With over 330 beaches on 250 miles of coastline, Cornwall often tops the charts as the UK’s most dog-friendly region. With the number of dog owners at an all-time high (a third of UK households now have at least one dog, a 10% increase on pre-pandemic levels), it’s no wonder they continue to be a favorite on the Cornish coast year after year. .
Dogs are welcome on all but four of Cornwall’s beaches, and although dogs are banned from 1 July to 31 August on most beaches, there are no restrictions on more than 130 beaches in Cornwall. The dog friendly towns of Port Gaverne and Port Isaac are 20 minutes away from each other. Dog Friendly Beaches In North Norfolk

Newquay is one of the most dog-friendly places in Cornwall – many pubs, restaurants and shops will welcome dogs through their doors.
This beautiful beach is located on both sides of the Ganéil river as it descends from the sand towards the sea. There are many wonderful walks to explore with your dog on the coastal path around the sea. The dog-friendly C-Bay bar just off the beach is the best place for lunch.

Backed by huge grass dunes, this lifeguard beach is great to explore with dogs and children, with the impressive Holywell Grotto – exposed at low tide – and a stream running down the middle of the sea with stunning rock pools on either side.
When the tide is out, several beaches along the site join together to form a large beach a quarter of a mile wide, although dogs are only allowed year-round at this central facility. The huge grassy dunes are full of wildlife, birds and rare wildflowers – you have to pet the dogs on the RSPB reserve, but they are fine on the beach. The nearest car park is at Riviere Towans, a few minutes’ walk away, and dogs must be kept on a lead until you reach the steps down to the beach.
Getting to this beach is a long walk and involves walking down cliffs – not an easy task on a dog’s leash – but those who make the effort will be rewarded with white sand and crystal clear water. In the spring months, low tide allows you to walk to the beach near Porthcurno, where you can access the car park (but keep dogs on a lead if there are restrictions on this beach).
The Helford River is full of coves, some dog-friendly all year round and all accessible via the South West Coastal Path which runs right through it. Grebe and the beach near Durgan welcome dogs all year round and are peaceful places to run.

The village of Cadgwith, a fishing village on a beautiful harbor, has two shingle beaches in the southeast; The nordstranden, home to the town’s small fishing boats, is dog-friendly all year round. There is a car park five minutes from the village and the South West Coast Path runs in both directions – this remote, wild part of Cornwall has a very quiet and impressive footpath.Â
This small harbor on the edge of the village of Mill is only accessible at low tide. If you’re keen, there are spectacular cliff climbs in both directions along the coastal path with amazing flora and fauna. There is a small car park five minutes from the beach where you will find toilets and a cafe.Â
This stunning National Trust beach between Fowey and Polperro is dog friendly all year round with sandy beaches and clear blue water on a sunny day. It’s a short walk down the cliff from the (National Trust) car park, so make a day of it: pack a picnic and don’t forget a dog bowl and water – not much going on. facilities in this remote area.
Dog Friendly Beaches In West Cornwall
If you don’t mind a short walk here (about 15 minutes from the car park), this beach is one of the best in South Cornwall; it’s off the beaten track, so it’s quiet, even in high season. The flat shelf shale beach stretches for over a kilometer and is great for swimming and snorkelling, especially around Penveor Point where you’ll find rock pools. Stick to the east side if you don’t want to be forced – the west side is an illegal nudist beach.
This National Trust beach is dog-friendly all year round; at lower levels it meets the neighboring (and dog-friendly) Carne beach to create a stretch of sand over a kilometer long. There is also a separate cafe set back from the beach – Shallikabooky Beach Hut welcomes dog friends and is a great place to stock up on snacks, cakes, ice cream and hot drinks.
